about

I first started thinking about this song when I was in The Deadly Syndrome. We all wrote songs, and so sometimes I would be playing a drum part that I didn't come up with, or Mike would play a key line that he didn't write, etc. Obviously the most forefront of this is when we would write lyrics. I wanted to write a song where it was honest when coming out of my mouth or Chris's. So the idea that he would say "this isn't my voice," could be interpreted several ways. Or just the idea that I was trapped by my own vocal inadequacies, and so I was putting this note in a bottle that only Chris had the equipment to read. That seems like a really convoluted way to say that first and foremost, I'm a drummer. Weirdly this song is not about death.

lyrics

This is not my voice
my voice is soft and lightly laughing
this is not my voice
it's thunderbolts and lightning crashing

Yes this is my love
that's why my voice is soft and trembling
this is all i want
to spend the night with you....or something

Use your voice, don't
lose your voice, please
use your own voice, don't
lose your own voice, please
use your voice
don't
lose your voice
use
your
own
voice

about

VISTALITE Los Angeles, California

It turns out all my songs are about death. I hope to remedy that one day, because I have two daughters and I don't want them to think I'm weird, or anything.
